Executive Summary

Executive Summary - This is simply a condensed version of a company's business plan.  It is used to send to interested investors instead of sending out a full blown business plan that can be 30 pages or more and contain financial statements.

The executive summary is typically under five pages in length and does not contain financial statements.  It is used to send to interested parties to start a dialog and see if that party is really a serious investor or someone just fishing for information and possibly a competitor.

Most companies will not put confidential information or trade secrets in the executive summary. It should be a concise explanation of your company's business model, competitive edge (if any), background of the management team and brief overview of  gross and net  income/loss.
